Tony Award winning play FELA! is going international and the play will be broadcast live around the world on January 13th, from the National Theatre. The play, which features Sahr Ngaujah, star of the original Broadway FELA! production, will be broadcast live from the National Theater to screens around the world, including Nigeria, the United State, Ireland and other countries in Europe.The showing of FELA! is part of The National Theater initiative to play and perform arts from London to cinemas and performing arts venues around the globe. Over 165,000 people around in various countries attended the viewings featured in the first year of the program. FELA! launches the The National Theater's highly anticipated second season.
FELA! was produced with the help of Hip-Hop mogul Jay-Z, world famous actor Will Smith, his equally famous wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith and The Roots' Amir "?uestlove" Thompson. The award-winning play, which ended its Broadway run last night (January 2nd), explores the life of Nigerian Afro-beat legend/political activist Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. Average ticket prices are $20.00.

Organizers for FELA!, which opened in a limited edition run at the National Theatre in mid-November, are preparing an international tour that is currently being booked by Margaret Selby of CAMI Spectrum and Gary McAvay of CAMI Theatricals.
