One of Africa’s biggest music acts 2face Idibia who has over the years, proved his worth with multiplatinum album sales, global awards and international recognition has added another accolade to his bag of titles as Touch of Genius bestows him with an honorary award.
Touch of Genius (TOG) is project inaugurated by talent management group Now Muzik in 2002 in an effort to celebrate icons in the Nigerian Music industry – people who against all odds have excelled and influenced a vast audience of music listeners and music makers. The first-ever edition ‘Touch Genius: Tribute album to the legendary Sir Victor Uwaifo’ was in honour of highlife music maestro Sir Victor Uwaifo for his remarkable achievements in his field of music. TOG went a step further by compiling a tribute album to the legendary musician.
The album, which contained excellent remixes of Uwaifo’s classic songs, featured many acts, including Paul Play Dairo, Orlando Julius, Latoya Aduke, Sunny Chichi of Africa, Kwame, DJ Jimmy JATT, Eno Louis, 6 Foot Plus, Megamob and Slick.Now Muzik in partnership with events centre Scintilla Events limited on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 unveiled its second edition titled ‘Touch of Genius: The 2face Idibia Tribute’ which will see Idibia, a Nigerian pop icon and beloved music-maker celebrated and honoured for his contribution to the music industry.
Speaking on the partnership, C.E.O Now Muzik Efe Omorogbe stated that they opted for a re-launch of the project with Scintilla Events because ‘both outfits were in sync as regards the promotion of brand excellence and delivering quality entertainment’; which he said provided the ‘right platform for the rebirth of the TOG project’.
‘I am very honored by the gesture, and really very short of words… thank you all very much’, 2face joyfully expressed in anticipation of the ceremony which is to be held on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Scintilla events Limited, Lekki/Epe Expressway, in Lagos.
